"A Trusted and Learned Friend"
If you have made it to this page, chances are you want to know what I think and why I think it. It is real simple. I started my career as a novice weight-lifter that learned about my self through the hobby of pushing and pulling iron. I have been helped in the iron game by many, many people through the years (since the age of 16), and can honestly say I have learned something about myself after every workout and goal achieved. I am not here to tell you that my way is the best way; but I am here to share my experiences with you in regards to designing exercise programs and maintaining a respectable and professional image for your clients, managers, and peers.
"The Business of Fitness"
As a personal trainer and as a fitness manager over the years, I have come to understand both the need for a business to strive and the need for a professional to remain passionate. It is through passion that we strive to become better and motivate our clients. Sometimes, it is within our own being that we re-shape and influence the many people that we help. As a manager, I understand what it takes to motivate a staff and always capture the "best" of them to lead a team of fellow staff or clients. I understand that the career of a personal trainer depends highly on the characteristics needed--yet, can be developed through proper guidance and coaching. It is the belief that this profession can be--and should --be viewed as an important and viable necessity to society as any other means of preventative medicine.
"Talking the Talk, Walking the Walk"
So many experts and guru's clog our online resources pumping elitist views on exercise programming and client retention. So many millionaires preaching their precious "how to secrets" to reap financial success in the fitness industry. Time and time again, I have found and confirmed that most, if not all, of these online guru's, coaches, or experts rarely do any person to person personal training. I also believe that true fitness professionals should also make exercise and healthy habits a substantial part of their life. "Under the bar" experience means truly that: actually getting under a weighted barbell and lifting it; and there are countless and countless fitness guru's that do not understand what the iron game truly is. It is the belief that an obstacle (load) can be overcome when enough desire (power) and tenacity (longevity) are harnessed.
